My work “Millefleur“, like the name refers, is homage to the Middle Age tapestries with the same name. The name in French literally means a thousand flowers and refers to a tapestry background consisting of small flowers and plants. In my interpretation flowers are not at the background anymore, they are the main characters, big and important. Flowers are shown in a very large scale, actually precisely three times bigger, so that we can have a close look at their natural wild beauty.

The work is accomplished by using the wildflowers of Estonia. With the changed color combination I try to give a mysterious or dreamy vibe to my work, or some fairytale feeling or atmosphere (The Blue Bird, Bluebeard, A Midsummer Night's Dream, etc). So there are beautiful flowers, perhaps there is chance that the unicorn also appears?

The size of the work would be the maximum it can be for this exhibition (300 x 300 cm) and the technique is digital print. As the scale of the flowers is changed, the old and time-consuming technique of the Middle Ages is also changed according to nowadays digital world possibilities, as digital print enables to accurately convey the beauty of the natural plants.
